New York

Last week we were able to spend 6 days in New York for Nate's wedding. We flew out on Thursday and spent most of Thursday traveling; the girls did really good on Thursday and Austyn slept during both plane rides and during the car ride once we got there.

On Friday we were able to meet Terra and Alexis for the first time and then we headed to breakfast and took the kids swimming in the pool at our hotel. Friday night we went to the wedding rehearsal and then to a family dinner.

Saturday was the big day and we spent the morning getting ready and helping decorate for the ceremony. The ceremony was at a historic house and was held in the garden out back. We then headed to the Elks Lodge for the reception which included dinner and dancing. The kids had a good time at the reception and we couldn't keep them off of the dance floor.

Sunday we went to a cool little town called Alexandria Bay which is located right on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. From there we took a boat tour of the Thousands Islands area. There are little tiny islands that people buy and build houses on; some of them were huge mansions built on tiny little islands. We were able to take a tour of Boldt Castle which was built in the early 1900s and is in the process of being remodeled.

Monday we headed back towards Buffalo and spent a few hours in Palmyra. While there we were able to visit Hill Cumorah, the Joseph Smith Farm, the printing press and the Sacred Grove. It was neat to visit these places that our such a big part of the church's history. After we left Palmyra we drove to Niagara Falls where we stayed the night. We were able to see the falls at night all lit up.

Tuesday we went back to the falls and then headed to Buffalo to catch our first flight. We didn't make it home until almost midnight on Tuesday and we were all exhausted.
